Brooklyn-based hybrid live action + animation one-stop shop Coed Studios have been busy as beavers, pandemic be damned!  As Coed partner Haley Geffen says – between TV binges, zoom school, and doom scrolling we did manage to make stuff, some of our most meaningful work to date !


What happens when COVID-19 shuts down a live-action production? “A Simple… but not easy” pivot to animation. The award-winning spot, directed by Coed partner Sam Stephens working with SF marketing agency Demonstrate, aired on the West Coast and across search, social, and digital with immersive 3D audio content on Spotify.

As video conferences boom, so does the pressure to be camera ready at any moment. In this spot directed by Coed partner Haley Geffen and in partnership with NY ad shop Publicis / Saatchi & Saatchi, Proctor & Gamble’s Crest 3D White puts the sparkle back in our smile and bolsters camera confidence.


Anheuser-Busch’s Bud Light brand decided to jump in on the console war battle between Xbox and PlayStation 5 with a competitor they call the BL6.  Coed partner Sam Stephens in partnership with Engine Shop led the direction and animation of this once in a lifetime console announcement. The only public BL6 console was auctioned off at Beer Gear with the proceeds going to the National Restaurant Foundation supporting the “Change Is On The Menu” program.

Led by partner Sam Stephens and in partnership with Roadside Entertainment and MaggieVision, Coed designed and animated the graphics package for TIME’s Person of the Year TV special. TIME’s Person of the Year is not an award — it is a marker. It is history as it’s written, whether good or bad and it was an honor collaborating on this year’s historic touchstone.

LEXUS partners with TED Senior Fellows

How do we propel a collective future that not only advances but prioritizes human needs? Lexus partnered with the visionary TED Fellows program to answer this very question. Coed produced the graphics package for the teaser announcement as well as two short films spotlighting senior fellows Sarah Sandman and Greg Gage’s designs for human-centric automated vehicles.



Coed Studios Director/Partner Haley Geffen collaborated with NBCUniversal to direct two tributes to the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.

The National Constitution Center awarded the 32nd annual Liberty Medal to Justice Ginsberg for her efforts to advance liberty and equality for all. To celebrate her work, the Center aired a video tribute featuring performances by internationally renowned opera singers and tributes from special friends of Justice Ginsburg. The documentary, which premiered on Constitution Day, was produced by NBCUniversal, is available on Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, as well as Xfinity On Demand.

In honor of the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, Haley Geffen + Coed also directed and produced a 24-minute opera for NBCUniversal + the National Constitution Center, which tells stories from the women’s suffrage movement. The operatic song cycle was performed by mezzo-soprano opera star J’Nai Bridges and composed by RBG’s daughter in law, Patrice Michaels.

HEY GIRL  a film by Haley Geffen

This film is for women who feel vulnerable, who are trying to navigate life in its current state of politics and who crave equality. Directed by partner Haley Geffen and produced by Coed Studios, Hey Girl, is a self-funded award-winning short film that wrapped an unusual 2020 festival circuit. Despite the circumstances of the global pandemic, the film made a fitting debut at the Brooklyn Film festival and finished the year with 10 appearances across the globe, garnering 11 awards.
